My name is Bret. I have lived in Vero Beach since the late 70's except for the four years I served in the military. My wife and I live and work here, and our children attend school here.
VBFL.us and its sister sites, VeroInfo.com and VeroBeachBusinessDirectory.com (VBBD), are information/directory websites. These sites provide helpful details (news, weather, movie listings, classified ads, business ads, gas prices, apartment listings, employment finder, social networking links, concert & live music info, an event calendar, and wi-fi hot spots) about the Indian River County area that residents and visitors can use daily.
VBFL.us is a self-service site - you create a listing for your business, group, social networking site, or classified ad. There are no fees or costs associated with promoting yourself or your organization.
How many visitors do you receive daily/monthly?
On average, between 200 and 500 unique visitors frequent my websites daily. That means 6,000 to 15,000 people use my websites to find what they are looking for in our area.
Where do your website visitors come from?
Site visitors come (mostly) from the Indian River County area, but include people from over 65 countries around the world! (I use Google Analytics to check visitor details.)
Why did you create these websites?
I created VeroBeachBusinessDirectory.com at the end of 2006 mainly out of curiosity to see if people actually used the web to find anything related to Vero Beach. After finding out that many thousands of people were constantly searching for us (who knew?!), I decided to play around with the idea a little more.
Initially, I charged money for placing ads on my sites, but I dropped that idea in favor of ads from third-party companies (Google AdSense, Commission Junction, Apartments.com) – and that more than pays the bills – so I could provide a free service to our community.
I am able to offer this site as a free service because you manage your own listings.
If you own a business you can benefit from free advertising and promotion of your products and services. You can add links for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and more, to let potential customers learn more about you.
If you want to sell your stuff online you can use the new classified ads feature on VBFL.us.
If your group or organization would like to reach more people or if you want to help people find you online, adding your group will help spread the word.
If you have a social networking site like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Meetup, or any of two dozen or so popular sites you can add a listing to help people find you.
If you are trying to find a business, community information, or other details about the Indian River County area, VBFL.us and its two sister sites are a great start.
How do I get started creating a business listing, classified ad, or social networking linking page?
Step 1: Create a user name and password here:

Step 2: If you have an account already you can login to your existing VBFL.us account here:

Step 3: Once you are logged in you will see a welcome message. Just above the welcome message are helpful links for managing your account. Look for a link that says "Advertise". Click on that link.
Step 4: Choose from the listing options, then click on the 'Submit' button at the bottom of the page.
There are directions on the right side of the page that explain what each field requests. If you a questions please send them through my contact page.
If you are truly not tech savvy I will create a listing page for you, though I can't guarantee how long it will take. Please send your request through my contact page. Be sure to include detailed information about your listing request.
If/when you create a listing please let me know. I try to announce all new listings on my Vero Beach Facebook page as an added way to get more eyes - about 5,000 or so - on you!
Why can't I find a business or a category on your site? (or) Why are there businesses listed here that are no longer in business?
VBFL.us is fairly new. Not many people or businesses have heard about it yet. Since this site relies heavily on individuals adding their businesses, it can take a long time for listings to appear. I try to add businesses, but it takes time. Since I have a family and I work full-time, getting the message out about this site and the services it provides is challenging.
You can help tell others about this site with my "Tell a Friend" link here. Tell business owners about free online advertising. Tell friends and neighbors about free classifieds. Tell others about the extensive community information.
For the same reason that it takes a long time for current businesses to be listed here, it takes just as long for out-of-business businesses to be removed.
You can help me with that also. If you find incorrect information (address, phone, website, etc.), a company out of business, or any other details that are not accurate, please use my contact page to tell me.
