Our Vision

Citrus Elementary, established in 1967, successfully participated in the pilot program of the Indian River County School District to develop a School Improvement Team. We began by developing a vision and mission statement with input from parents, students and business leaders in our community. That vision is: "Guiding today's children to become tomorrow's leaders." Our vision of the future leaves behind19th century methodology and offers a challenging, individualized, educational setting in which students will have the opportunity to participate in non-traditional, creative programs.

Our Mission

Our belief at Citrus Elementary is that every child can learn and be successful in school. Part of our mission states that we will "See the potential in every child and help them see the potential in him/her self." We model this with staff development for teachers and teaching developmentally appropriate learning strategies. Varied services are offered at the school site, ranging from gifted to learning disabled, the Peer Mediation Program, Adult Volunteers, as well as Student Support Services. Our school improvement plan addresses student performance, the learning environment and parent involvement. We believe that we must not only set high standards for our students, but for ourselves. We believe that we are lifelong learners and need to model it for our students and parents. Our high standards are embodied in our mission statement which is:
